Project Overview

As a result of the US Army’s force structure reductions, an Infantry Brigade Combat Team was inactivated at Fort Riley. The Flint Hills Regional Council (FHRC) is working with regional stakeholders to assess the economic impacts associated with the reduction of 2,093 active-duty personnel and their families. This study will examine a variety of impacts, including those to the local housing market, schools, workforce, and regional economy. These impacts will be estimated for Riley County, Geary County, Pottawatomie County, Clay County, Junction City, Grandview Plaza, Manhattan, Chapman, Clay Center, Riley, Ogden, and Wamego.
